What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a process where psychological problems are treated through communication between an individual and a therapist.

How Can Psychotherapy Help Me?

Most of us are aware of the emotional and mental symptoms we experience, but not usually the causes of these symptoms. The root causes of these symptoms lie in the unconcious mind, which is not readily accessible to us, except via some kind of psychotherapeutic intervention.

Once your unconscious thoughts and feelings are made conscious, then YOU get to decide how you want to proceed in your life. As you learn to accept all of who you are, you evolve into your fullest potential, which allows you to begin developing YOUR "Inner Vision."

What is Psychoanalysis?

The basic tenets of Psychoanalysis include:

1. A person's development is determined by often forgotten events in early childhood besides inherited traits

2. Human attitude, mannerism, experience, and thought is largely influenced by irrational drives that are rooted in the unconscious

3. It is necessary to bypass psychological resistance in the form of defense mechanisms when bringing drives into awareness

4. Conflicts between the conscious and the unconscious, or with repressed material can materialize in the form of mental or emotional disturbances, for example: neurosis, neurotic traits, anxiety, depression etc.

5. Liberating the elements of the unconscious is achieved through bringing this material into the conscious mind (via e.g. skilled guidance, i.e. therapeutic intervention)

How Does This Work?

My name is Justin Tausig, LMHC and my approach to Psychotherapy is founded upon the principle that we are all intrinsically whole. Rather than "fixing" people, I work with you to help you uncover and resolve your issues and obstructions.

During our work together, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and coaching may be integrated when appropriate, as they can be complementary modalities. This produces a powerful synergy that can help you heal past problems and current crises as you move toward your visions and goals.
